You cannot use numbing cream when getting a tattoo or piercing as it will make the skin tougher. I suggest getting freezing from the tattoo parlour. They can not do it until after the initial outline has been done but a little more pain is worth not ruining your tattoo.

Reply:I personally don't think these creams work very well since by the time the skin is prepped and the stencil is applied, etc., what little "numbing" has occurred is pretty much worn off.





Better to use the gels on the market for after the skin is broken and the tattoo has begun. Many artists won't use them, they say the tattoo doesn't turn out but you only need to use it once for about 30 seconds and then clean it off and keep tattooing. It makes a huge difference at that point and is great for when the client starts bottoming out and can't handle any more.

Reply:I know a few tattooist personaly and the wont work on you if there is anything on the skin because they clean the area before to help prevent infections! You want the ink tough it out!
Reply:first let me tell you that the numming cream they put on the area for your tattoo does NOT work so you will just have to take the pain. My sister wanted cindy to use the numing cream and it didn't work my sister felt every needle movement. so Dont spend the money to have it nummed cause it doesn't work
Reply:there is numbing cream but it takes forever to tattoo...it takes about a half hour to work and only last about a half hour so a tattoo artist usual refuses it and to do a tat yourself is risky i hope your experienced but im doubting it by your question. and if the tat is in a sensitive spot i recomend not doing it than by yourself you may screw up and not have it deep enough or cause infection. dont do it
Reply:Even the most sensitive and horrible places to get tattooed are easily survivable. Tattooing may hurt, but it is not going to be so bad that you break down weeping or go into shock unless you work yourself up into quite the emotional fit.





If it is a "sensitive" place that you'd rather not post I can speak from experience that even those are not painful enough to need to be numbed. Just breathe and be patient. The little bit of pain is more than worth the result.
