I have a cream containing retinol and lactic acid which I initially used nightly. However, I find it makes my skin very tingly…is that a good or bad sign? Should I use it every other night instead??

What's the best brand of facial cream for very dry skin?
Help! I'm 34, getting married in two months and really want to "shine" on my wedding day! I recently bought Clinique's RepairWear foundation make-up, which is supposed to be good for dry skin and hiding "the first signs of aging", but I feel like it does just the opposite! It makes my wrinkles stand out and dries out my forehead and nose so much that my skin flakes and peels off. A clerk at a make up counter (not a Clinique rep) told me the make-up is fine; what I need is a new moisturizer. Besides my daily facial cream (which I vary in terms of brands) I've used Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion under the base, as well as Moisture On Call. This clerk said I need something stronger and recommended some Biotherm products. I've also considered Clinique's Superdefense cream. But before spending a fortune on a bunch of different products that don't work any better than what I've used to date, I thought I'd check around and see what other people recommend. Thanks!

Does acne melasma cream can make you skin clear?

I use Proactiv for keeping my skin clear. I only buy the lotion by itself now, though, and only put it on at night before bed... And I use a good biore toner... And just a good face wash and scrub in the shower. It keeps my skin very clear. And, for scars you could probably just get a scar lotion or medicine of some kind. I don't know, it's just what I do and would do.

Reply:There are a lot of skin creams out there that promise to get the job done and they leave us disappointed. I have that same problem adn the only thing that work was when I got a facial. My cousins swears by Ambi skin toner/lighter. I hope that works for you if decide to try it. Let me know if it doe's.

What are the effects of 'parfum' within a face cream on one's skin? Is it better to use an unfragranced product, or is that only necessary for those with sensitive skin? Can fragrance have a detrimental effect on the skin?

The best face creams I've found are made with natural ingredients, such as Dr Haushka, Weleda from health shops.
My favourite is called Miracle Lotion (it says it's for dry skin but can be used on normal skin also);
it contains 14 Natural Herbs, extracted with a low heat process that preserves their effectiveness. The 7 natural oils, including rich Olive Oil and Sweet Almond Oil. It's avaiable from Victoria Health:

Reply:I don't think fragrances are bad for your face unless you're allergic to them. I'm lucky that my skin isn't really sensitive, but for some reason Clinique absolutely tears me up - that's the only stuff that does bother me.
Reply:it will most likely make your skin extremely dry. that's what happened to me. it was like red %26amp; chapped almost with like pealing kind of.. then when i put make up over it, it looked reallllly bad.
