Reply:Hi,

When you ask what is the best moisturizing cream for dry skin do you mean for your hands, feet or entire body? There are a wide range of products on the market for every area on our bodies. Not all the creams available are for the entire body though. Also, depending upon the season our skin can be more dry due to the elements. A excellent idea is to make sure in the winter you have a humidifier going to maintain good healthy skin and hair. I have found one product that I am very impressed with for keeping my feet nice and soft. As silly as it sounds, it is bag balm/utter cream. I was very surprised when I read this in a magazine also. But, sure enough when I went to Walgreens there it was in with the other moisturizing creams. It is actually for cows utters, but I think you will really like it if you are looking for something to keep your feet nice and soft. It's a bit too greasy for any other part of the body though. So, keep in mind when purchasing moisturizing creams for your skin, that you want it for a certain area and go from there. Don't just apply one cream for everywhere because most are not meant to be a all purpose cream.
Reply:When we speak about moisturizers, many words come to our minds... but, what exactly is a moisturizer?

Moisturizers are a complex mixture of chemical agents specially designed to make the epidermis softer and more pliable, by increasing its hydration ( water content).

A moisturizer will rapidly absorb into and bond with the outer layer of the skin, creating a protective layer while retaining the natural moisture from within. Optimizing skin hydration gives skin a smoother texture and a more radiant appearance.

Besides imparting or restoring normal levels of hydration to the skin, moisturizers can have several additional intended and unintended effects on its users, including building a barrier against the loss of water through the epidermis, repairing scaly, damaged or dry skin resulting from external environmental aggressions or internal changes (such as in acne or naturally dry skin), repairing or postponing the aging effects on the skin, etc.

Moisturizers act on the most external of the skin layers, the so-called corneal stratum, which is largely formed by squamous cells or keratinocytes (an epithelial layer which is quite dynamic, i.e., it is being constantly shed and replaced by the growth of new cells coming from the deeper layers of the skin, therefore its name).

Despite claims to the contrary by the cosmetics industry, complex moisturizers may cause a number of adverse effects, including allergic reactions to some of its components, skin irritation, contact dermatitis characterized by redness, itching, burning and stinging sensations, or even may cause a contrary effect to the desired, i.e. they may actually increase dehydration. When used near sensitive spots, such as the eyes, lips and genitals, these adverse effects may be increased in some persons.
Reply:I personally use body butter/cream (any kind -- I use Dead Sea Premier) on my hands, arms and feet. They have these amazing essential oils and other ingredients (aloe, glycerin, green tea, etc.) that make my skin feel incredibly soft and retain moisture.

For drug stores, try Gold Bond (great for extremely dry skin), Jergens and Vaseline Body Butter.

This is beneficial to dry skin types. There are many helpful tips to cure dry skin at http://useinfo-dryskin.blogspot.com/

If u have sensitive skin..u have to go for products which are specifically for such skin...

There is no one best cream, you have to know what works for u... Olay is my fav for face, bath and body / vaseline products for body. There are different hand / foot creams as well.

Once ur skin likes a product, u ll know..:)
